If you are brushing too hard.....here are some simple tips!

Has your dentist told you that you are brushing your teeth to hard? That it is causing your teeth to be worn away; especially near the gum line. Well as a dentist I know its very hard to change your habit as its well grounded in your subconscious mind. So here are some tips on how to change that habit.

Change your Toothbrush more frequently.

Older toothbrushes tend to facilitate a rubbing compared to a brushing action of the bristles contact on the teeth. This is due to the loss of rigidity of the bristle itself leading to you not feeling any effect hence the tendency to press and exert more force. Let the toothbrush do the work and not the force from your hand.

Use a 2-3 fingers grip

Most of us tend to grip the toothbrush with our whole palm. That tends to put a lot of force on the toothbrush and teeth in turn. When you use 2-3 fingers inclusive of the thumb, almost like how you hold a pencil, you tend to ease of on the force applied. Try it !

See yourself in the mirror

Most of us brush our teeth in front of a mirror but tend not to look at the mirror! When you actually see yourself in the mirror you tend to be more mindful and conscious of the brushing force and more importantly the brush strokes. Remember! It has to be more vertical and less horizontal .

Try these tips and if you have any feedback, we love to hear from you. Happy Brushing!
